Today we listened to a guest talker from K.W.Doggett. Who talked about paper, from its origins to the process of making the paper and the finishes and specialty effects that it can have such as metallic colour, emboss and deboss.

It was a real interesting presentation as paper isn’t something you think about lots. It’s interesting to note that paper can help your designs and their messages a lot more than you think it can. The particular type of thickness or the type of finish can be seen as the type of quality a product or place is. For example, we take the thin shiny paper and our brain will automatically put it in the junk mail box which means we are less likely to take it as a high quality advertisement.
It was really amazing seeing all the different forms that paper could come into as its not something that you automatically think about. The thickness, the finish, the coat, all things that wouldn’t even register to me if it wasn’t for the speaker at K.W.Doggett.
